Paolo Ardoino is the CEO of Tether, the world's largest stablecoin issuer, and the CTO of Bitfinex. Paolo discovered the cypherpunk movement in his early teens and has been fascinated by the movement. This led to him discovering Bitcoin in 2013 and joining Bitfinex a year later.
In this conversation with Relai CEO Julian Liniger, Paolo discusses the evolution of Tether’s USDT stablecoin, how they use Bitcoin as a backing asset, why they decided also to use gold and treasuries as reserves, and why they invested billions of dollars in companies and projects to further evolve the space.
