We are living through an economic crisis. A crisis that has been building for decades. Since the year 2000, global GDP has tripled, yet we are facing rampant inflation, a widening wealth gap and a dramatic slowdown of the global economy.
Misguided economic policies have seen the government borrow ever-increasing amounts of money, and these growth levers have raised the cost of living, pushing families to the brink.
In Part 2 of Follow the Money, I travel to my home town of Bedford to look at how families and businesses are coping with inflation and what they understand about it. I also travel to Harlow, one of the most deprived towns in the UK, to look into a housing project where the government is converting old office blocks into social accommodation.
